Aims and objectives
MEITT is a pilot programme to implement the objectives raised to undergraduate and graduate Student Teachers focusing on their further MA studies. IP presents a new, concise and effective course on Teacher Training as part of the newly designed EMETT (European Master for European Teacher Training) curriculum, built up by the team of teachers from eight European universities. The key issues MEITT focuses on are:
- modernity
- innovativeness
- creativity
in Teacher Training. The course covers comparative perspectives on education in Europe, research and its organisation, teaching practice and how it can be organised innovatively, current teaching approaches and methods, and other Teacher Training components promoting multilingualism, cross-cultural understanding and European citizenship.
MEITT will be mainly carried out in the formats of seminars and workshops where the international teaching staff and students will get the opportunity to deliver their presentations, discuss the topical issues, participate in the project work of comparative analysis. Since the IP participants are future teachers of different subjects (Psychology, Sociology, Education sciences, Philology, Mathematics, ICT), consequently, there is a plan to work in “special interest groups” where student-teachers united by the same subject will be able to discuss certain specific topics and deepen their understanding.
There will also be thematic cultural evenings organised, where both students and staff members from each participating institution are expected to introduce the rest MEITT participants to their country, customs and traditions.
MEITT also leads towards establishing close cooperation among the partner institutions and their staff members seeking to modernise Europe and , thus, build up a network of creative European educators.
Each IP participant after successful completion of the programme will be awarded 6 ECTS. The Intensive Programme encompasses three fields of Education and training:
- Teacher training and education science
- Training for teachers with subject specialisation
- Sociology and cultural studies
consequently, 2 credits will be awarded for participation in each area.
